Julie visits a hidden gem of a country house in Shropshire, close to the border with England and Wales – Pitchford Hall. Pitchford Hall has been considered England’s finest Elizabethan half-timbered house. The recent history of the hall is turbulent one – in 1992 it was sold and lost to the family. By extraordinary determination and endeavour over 25 years the family has now returned. Rowena Colthurst, whose mother inherited Pitchford in the early 1970s, has worked tirelessly with her husband James to get the family home back – but is now faced with the enormous task of recovering the building from years of neglect.
