for the Preservation of Britain’s Living History

The Countess of Sandwich Society brings together an open-access digital archive and a circle of Members dedicated to the future of historic houses.

As the first pillar of the Society, this archive gathers a growing collection of beautifully produced films about Britain’s country houses into one elegant, searchable home online, making them easy to watch, study, and share.

The Society behind it is an evolving cultural community: Members support the ongoing creation and curation of this archive, help to fund an annual Conservation Prize, and take part in talks, salons, and an online symposium that connect them directly with owners, archivists, and historians.

The archive preserves the stories. The Society, through the aid of its Members, ensures that those stories continue to be told.
