Julie visits the magnificent Berkeley Castle in Gloucestershire. It’s everything you want a medieval castle to be – a fortress, with the keep, the oldest surviving part of the castle, at its heart. Berkeley Castle has been home to the same family for nearly 900 years – and within its walls, a King of England was imprisoned and murdered in 1327. Julie Montagu, Viscountess Hinchingbrooke, will will be delving into the archives, meeting the Berkeley family and exploring the restoration and redevelopment projects out on the Berkeley estate.
